The Flooring Lab and Forestry Timber: a supplier relationship built on transparency.

Most flooring brands will tell you the colour, the grade, and the price. Far fewer will tell you who actually made the board.

At The Flooring Lab, we do. Our engineered timber flooring is manufactured by Forestry Timber Export — our long-term manufacturing and supply partner — with headquarters in Malaysia and production facilities in Indonesia. Their story and certificates live in the open at forestrytimber.com.

That is not a footnote. It is how we choose to compete.

Two companies. One supply chain you can actually name.

Forestry Timber is a family-owned engineered hardwood manufacturer established in 1991. From a Malaysian headquarters and a substantial manufacturing footprint in Sumatra, Indonesia, they have spent more than three decades refining what a serious three-layer engineered floor should be: premium authentic European Oak face veneers (and other specified hardwood face veneers), a stable plantation Hevea core, and finishes engineered for real homes and real climates. They work through select distribution partners worldwide, not anonymous end-retail, which is exactly the model The Flooring Lab was built for.

They ship into residential, retail and commercial projects worldwide. Their collections run to well over a thousand colour and finish options. Quality and compliance are not afterthoughts — they publish and maintain the documentation the market now expects: legality pathways such as SVLK / V-Legal (and FLEGT licensing where applicable for Europe), indoor-air credentials such as FloorScore®, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and FSC® / PEFC™ material available on request for relevant products.

In short: a factory with history, scale, and the paperwork to match.

The Flooring Lab is an Australian-owned flooring company, founded in 2020, headquartered at 443–445 Hammond Road, Dandenong South, with national wholesale reach and warehouses supporting retailers across the country.

We were built by people who already knew this industry from the inside. Andrew Henderson (Managing Director) brings around 25 years across management, systems, product development, international trade and procurement. Luke Mulder (Sales & Marketing Director) brings around 30 years across installation, retail and wholesale — including senior sales and product roles with Australia’s leading flooring brands. Between the directors sits 50+ years of combined flooring experience.

From the start, the model was clear: specialise in engineered timber, import and wholesale a carefully selected range, and put that product into the hands of flooring retailers — with specification and commercial work as a natural extension. We did not invent a factory overnight. We chose one.

Why a strong manufacturer relationship matters

A sample board can look perfect and still fail the project. Colour drifts between batches. Lead times slip. Certificates arrive late — or not at all. Someone in the chain goes quiet when a consultant asks an awkward question. A strong supplier relationship is the opposite of that.

Working closely with Forestry Timber means:

• Consistency — the same construction logic, core technology and quality systems behind the ranges we stock and specify • Access — colour, grade, width and finish options drawn from a deep manufacturing catalogue, not a one-season private label • Accountability — a named factory that warranties residential installations for 25 years (and commercial for five), and that stands behind compliance documentation • Speed when it counts — a partner who understands volume, export logistics and partner markets, not a middleman who cannot reach the mill • Shared product development — Australian market feedback that can travel back to people who actually make the floor

Price alone never buys that. Trust and time do.

Transparency is the uniqueness

In a crowded market, many brands treat the manufacturer as a secret — a contract factory somewhere offshore, unnamed, unlinked, uncheckable. The floor is “imported.” The story stops at the warehouse. We think customers, retailers and consultants deserve better.

Naming Forestry Timber Export does three things anonymous sourcing cannot:

1. It makes the supply chain inspectable. Anyone can visit [forestrytimber.com](https://forestrytimber.com), read how the product is built, and find the certification and compliance materials that sit behind the brand claims. 2. It supports Australian due diligence. Under the Illegal Logging Prohibition Act and Rules, importers need real supply-chain information, species, origin, manufacture, evidence. A named manufacturer with SVLK / V-Legal pathways and published EPDs is not a slogan; it is usable input to a written due-diligence system. 3. It matches how we brand the floor. ORIGINMARK™, TRUEFEATURE EU™, COLOURGRAIN RT™ and LIVINSAFE A+™ only mean something if we are willing to answer the boring questions: where did it come from, who made it, and what proof sits behind the claim?

That is what we mean by radical transparency. Not more adjectives. More answers.

From forest to floor — with a name on the door

Beautiful floors are easy to promise. A named manufacturer, a strong importer partnership, and a supply chain you can follow are harder and rarer. That is the relationship between Forestry Timber Export and The Flooring Lab. Not anonymous. Not accidental. Built in the open.

Know who made it. Know where it came from. Know what you’re living on.
